The new Feed-in Tariffs (FITs) became available in Great Britain from of 1st April 2010. Under this scheme energy suppliers make regular payments to householders and communities who generate their own electricity from renewable or low carbon sources such as solar electricity (PV) or wind.

The scheme guarantees a minimum payment for all electricity generated by the system, as well as a separate payment for the electricity exported to grid. These payments are in addition to the bill savings made by using the electricity generated on-site.

Anybody joining the scheme the scheme before 31st March 2012 will be locked into the higher rate for 25 years.

The amount reduces each year for new entrants thereafter.

This is a groundbreaking scheme that pays domestic solar thermal generators money for the heat energy they produce. Terms & conditions apply.

By working out the angle and orientation of your installation, your geographical latitude and the capacity of your solar thermal panels, the energy supplier will estimate or ‘deem’ the amount of heat you will produce and then pay you for it!

The scheme is funded through a small premium charged by the supplier to gas customers. Gas, on a whole is a fossil fuel, not green hence the levy is to discourage the use of gas for heating water. That is exactly what we are promoting with this scheme.

To be eligible for the scheme we require that you sign up to UK’s leading renewable energy supplier and gas supply (if you use gas) and provide proof of instalment of your Solar Hot Water system.
